Set against the haunting yet beautiful backdrop of post-war Northern Sri Lanka, the film follows the authentic experiences of the local Tamil community in the aftermath of the civil war’s end in 2009.
Moving beyond familiar commercial stereotypes, it offers an intimate and heartfelt portrayal of the psychological scars, economic struggles, and quiet resilience of people determined to rebuild their lives.
Grounded in authentic Jaffna Tamil dialects and cultural nuances, the story uses the palmyra forest (panaimarakkadu) as a poignant symbol of the community’s enduring spirit, deep-rooted identity, and strength to survive and grow despite adversity.
